Biography:

Born and raised in West Bay, Captain Eugene Ebanks is a businessman in the tourism industry and owner of Bayside Watersports.  A graduate of the American Institute of Aeronautics with his commercial pilot’s license, Ebanks also served in the U.S. Merchant Marines for four years during the Vietnam War and has served as a fisheries officer and a special constable.

He is a past president of the Cayman National Watersports Association and has also served on the Marine Conservation Board. Ebanks flew commercially for Cayman Airways from 1976 to 1983 and he was Captain of Her Majesty’s Queen Elizabeth II Yacht during her first visit to the Cayman Islands in 1983. He holds a Captain’s license from the U.S. Coast Guard and the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration. He is a member of the Cayman Islands Seafarer’s Association.

As an MLA, Ebanks serves a number of roles as a Member of the Standing Public Accounts Committee, the Standing Select Committee of the Office of the Complaints Commissioner, the Standing House Committee of the Legislative Assembly, the Standing Register of Interests and the Standing Select Committee on Privileges.
