Mr. Kirkconnell was first elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2005.

In 1973, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business with a major in International Business and a minor in Economics. He is a businessman involved in retail businesses, tourism, and the construction industry on the Sister Islands. He served as a Director for Cayman Airways from 1992 until 2005. He was President of the Sister Islands Tourism Association twice and a Sister Islands representative to the Cayman Islands Tourism Association. In 2003, he was presented with the Quincentennial Award for Ambassador of Economic Development for the Sister Islands.

Mr. Kirkconnell is a founding member of the National Trust and is a proud member of the Veteran's and Seamen's Society of Cayman Brac & Little Cayman. He is married to Kathy and their hobbies are fishing, walking and reading.
