Published 25th February 2010, 11:32am

Lawmakers are expected tomorrow (Friday, 26 February) to debate a bill that will make it easier for witnesses to anonymously provide information in criminal cases to authorities.

The debate will come after the Attorney General, the Hon. Samuel Bulgin, QC, JP, moves the Criminal Evidence (Witness Anonymity) Bill, 2010 in the LA.

The bill would better enable witnesses to share their knowledge, without fear of exposure or intimidation, so that it can be used as evidence in police investigations and court proceedings.

At a press briefing held recently, government announced its intention of bringing the bill. The briefing was headed by His Excellency the Governor, Mr. Duncan Taylor, CBE.
