- Biography:
- Donovan Ebanks was born in North Side, Grand Cayman. He received his primary and secondary education in the Cayman Islands public schools system. He attended the University of the West Indies (1971-75), gaining a BSc degree in Civil Engineering.
- He joined the Cayman Islands Public Service in July, 1975, and worked for nine months with the Public Works Department. From April 1976 until August 1978 he worked on various projects in St. Lucia, Montserrat, the British Virgin Islands and Barbados, on secondments to enhance his practical experience.
- He attended the University of Dundee in Scotland from September 1978 until September 1979, gaining a MSc degree in civil engineering.
- He rejoined the PWD in October 1979 as Executive Engineer and in April 1983 was appointed Chief Engineer of PWD.
- In July 1994 he was appointed Deputy Chief Secretary in the Portfolio of Internal and External Affairs.
- He was appointed Chief Secretary in July, 2009 and is responsible for the Portfolio of Internal & External Affairs and the Portfolio of the Civil Service.
- He has been a proponent of public sector reform and actively involved in various initiatives. He was a member of the National Hurricane Committee from its inception in 1987 and has served as Chairman of the National Hazard Management Council since its inception in 2007.
- Mr. Ebanks is the father of two children. He resides in Savannah.
